The ISCAR 2301581 is an indexable grooving and cut-off toolholder in the Do-Grip series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts DG. 1.. and DG. 15.. series inserts held by a clamp-style mechanism, providing rigid, repeatable insert seating. The toolholder handles groove widths from 1 to 1.5 mm and a maximum depth of cut of 12.7 mm. The square shank measures 16 mm x 16 mm with an overall length of 120 mm. This is a left-hand configuration, suitable for right-to-left feed directions. Machinists and CNC operators in precision metalworking and production machining environments are the primary users.
The ISCAR 2301581 is suited for external grooving and part cut-off on small to medium diameter workpieces where tight groove widths and controlled depth are required. The Do-Grip DGT toolholder style is built for high-precision groove profiling applications where insert changeover speed and positional accuracy matter. The 16 mm x 16 mm shank fits standard tool blocks and quick-change turret systems that accept this shank size. Compatible insert geometries include DGN-P, DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT, DGR/L-J/JS, and DGR/L-P styles, covering a range of groove profiles and cutting conditions.
Compatible insert styles include DGN-P, DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT, DGR/L-J/JS, and DGR/L-P. Insert size codes DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT and DGR/L-J/JS apply. Designed for use with DG. 1.. and DG. 15.. series inserts within the ISCAR Do-Grip grooving system.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and the turret fully de-energized before mounting or removing the toolholder. Verify that the shank bore or tool block matches the 16 mm x 16 mm shank dimensions before clamping. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for toolholder clamping bolts, and confirm left-hand orientation is correct for the intended turret position and feed direction before running the program.
