The ISCAR 2301537 is an external right hand indexable grooving toolholder from the Do-Grip series, designed for turning and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts DG-style inserts secured by a clamp-style insert holding method, enabling quick insert changes without removing the toolholder from the machine. The 2301537 handles a maximum depth of cut of 3.00 mm and accommodates groove widths from 1.90 mm to 2.50 mm. With a 16 mm x 16 mm square shank and an overall length of 120.00 mm, this toolholder fits standard tool blocks and turrets on small to mid-size turning machines. It complies with ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
This toolholder is intended for external non-face grooving applications across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, reflecting its universal material compatibility codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. It is suited for production turning environments where repeatable groove width and depth control are required. Maximum workpiece diameter is 25.40 mm, making it appropriate for small-diameter turned parts in aerospace, automotive, and general machining applications. A licensed machinist or CNC lathe operator performs the installation and insert changes.
The 2301537 accepts DG-series inserts using the clamp holding method. Compatible insert size codes include DGN-LF/LFT, DGN-P, DGN-UT/UA, DGN-WP, DGN-Z, DGN/DGNC/DGNM-C, DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT, DGR-P, DGR-WP, DGR-Z/ZS, DGR/L-C, DGRC/LC-C, and DGR/L-J/JS. Specific verified insert part numbers include DGL 2202C-6D, DGN 1900WP, DGN 2002C, DGN 2002Z, DGN 2202C, DGN 2202UA, DGN 2202UT, DGN 2400WP, DGN 2502C, and DGR 2202C-6D.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before mounting or changing inserts. Seat the shank fully into the tool block or turret pocket and secure per machine manufacturer torque specifications. Confirm insert seating and clamp engagement before initiating a test cut.
