The ISCAR 2301534 is a left-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder in the Do-Grip series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It uses a top-clamp insert-holding method to secure DG-style inserts and accommodates groove widths from 0.118 to 0.125 inches. The shank measures 0.5 inches square and 3.95 inches in length, with an overall toolholder length of 4.7 inches. The DGT-style head provides a back-of-bar to cutting-edge distance of 0.45 inches, keeping the insert positioned precisely for consistent groove depth and clean cutoff operations. Machining professionals and CNC setup technicians install this toolholder in standard left-hand static or live tool positions.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and parting-off applications in production and job-shop turning environments. It fits standard 0.5-inch shank tool blocks and turret positions common on small to mid-size CNC lathes. The left-hand orientation makes it appropriate for operations requiring tool approach from the spindle side opposite a standard right-hand holder. Compatible inserts include the DGN/DGNM and DGR/L families in J, JS, and JT geometries. A full list of verified compatible inserts is provided in the compatibility section below.
Compatible with DG-series inserts including DGL 1001J-8D, DGL 1400JS-15D, DGL 1402J-8D, DGL 2200JS-15D, DGL 2200JS-6D, DGL 2202C-6D, DGL 2202J-6D, DGL 3100JS-15D, DGL 3100JS-6D, DGL 3102C-15D, DGL 3102C-6D, DGL 3102J-15D, DGL 3102J-6D, DGL 4003C-4D, DGL 4003J-4D, DGL 5003C-4D, DGL 5003J-4D, and the DGL 630 series. Compatible insert size code families are DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT and DGR/L-J/JS.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is in a safe index position before mounting or removing the toolholder. Seat the shank fully into the tool block or turret pocket and torque the clamping screws to the machine or toolblock manufacturer specifications. Verify insert seating and tool overhang before resuming cutting operations.
