The ISCAR 2301528 is a left-hand indexable grooving and cut-off toolholder from the Do-Grip series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts DG-style indexable inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method, providing repeatable positioning and secure insert retention during grooving and cut-off operations. The toolholder handles groove widths from 0.075 to 0.098 inches and delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.395 inches. With a 3/8-inch square shank and an overall length of 4.7 inches, this holder fits standard tool blocks used in production turning environments. It is installed by machinists and CNC setup technicians in both job shop and production settings.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and cut-off applications in residential and industrial machining environments where precision groove geometry and repeatable insert indexing are required. It is designed for use with DG-series inserts, including profiles compatible with DGN and DGR insert families. Typical applications include groove turning, part separation, and profile grooving on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The left-hand orientation makes it appropriate for operations where tool approach or machine spindle direction requires a left-hand configuration. The Do-Grip series is recognized for its self-clamping insert retention and minimal setup changeover time.
Compatible with DG-series indexable inserts including DGL 2202C-6D, DGN 1900WP, DGN 2002C, DGN 2002Z, DGN 2202C, DGN 2202UA, DGN 2202UT, DGN 2400WP, DGN 2502C, and DGR 2202C-6D. Compatible insert size codes include DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT and DGR/L-J/JS.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or changing the toolholder or insert. Ensure the shank seating surfaces and tool block bore are clean and free of chips before securing. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for tool block clamping hardware; do not exceed manufacturer limits for insert clamp screws.
