The ISCAR 2301527 is a right-hand indexable grooving and cut-off toolholder from the Do-Grip series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts DG-series inserts using a clamp-style holding method and accommodates groove widths from 0.075 to 0.098 inches with a maximum depth of cut of 0.395 inches. The shank measures 0.375 inches square by 3.95 inches in length, with an overall length of 4.70 inches. This holder is intended for use by machinists and tooling technicians performing grooving, profiling, and parting operations in production turning environments.
The 2301527 is suited for external grooving and cut-off applications in both production and job-shop turning setups. Its compact head geometry — 0.620 inches head height and 0.750 inches head length — allows access in applications where clearance is limited. The clamp-style insert retention provides rigid, repeatable insert indexing. Compatible inserts include the DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT and DGR/L-J/JS series, covering a range of insert geometries for grooving and cut-off in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. This holder does not include coolant-through capability and does not accept full-radius inserts.
Compatible inserts include DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT and DGR/L-J/JS series inserts. Verified compatible insert part numbers: DGL 2202C-6D, DGN 1900WP, DGN 2002C, DGN 2002Z, DGN 2202C, DGN 2202UA, DGN 2202UT, DGN 2400WP, DGN 2502C, and DGR 2202C-6D. This toolholder uses the DGT holder style within the ISCAR Do-Grip series.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Before mounting or indexing inserts, the machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the shank squarely in the tool block or turret and torque the clamping screws to the tool block manufacturer's specification — do not use the insert clamp screw to compensate for shank play. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or damage before each insert index.
