The ISCAR 2301430 is an indexable grooving and cut-off toolholder in the Do-Grip series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and similar machine tools. It accepts DG-style inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method, providing rigid, repeatable insert positioning. The toolholder handles groove widths from 0.118 to 0.125 inches and supports a maximum depth of cut of 0.591 inches. With a shank cross-section of 0.5 inches by 0.5 inches and an overall length of 5.5 inches, it fits standard toolholding setups used in production and job-shop turning environments. This is a left-hand configuration, suited for specific spindle rotation and approach direction requirements.
This toolholder is intended for external grooving and cut-off applications in ferrous and non-ferrous turning operations. It is used in environments where precise groove geometry and clean cut-off profiles are required. The Do-Grip series is a recognized ISCAR platform for grooving work, and this holder is appropriate for machinists and tooling technicians setting up CNC turning cells, Swiss-type lathes, or conventional engine lathes where a left-hand external grooving holder is specified.
Accepts inserts from the DG insert family. Confirmed compatible insert grades include DGN 3000P, DGN 3002Z, DGN 3003UA, DGN 3003UT, DGN 3100JS, DGN 3102C, DGN 3102J, DGN 3102JT, DGN 3202J, DGNC 3102C, DGNM 3202C, and DGNM 3202J. Compatible insert size codes are DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT and DGR/L-J/JS.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or changing the toolholder or insert. Confirm that the shank dimensions match the toolpost or turret pocket before mounting. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for clamping bolts — do not rely on estimated values. Verify left-hand orientation against the programmed tool path and spindle rotation direction before running the first part.
