The ISCAR 2301298 is a left-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder in the Do-Grip series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts DG-style inserts secured by a clamp-style insert holding method, delivering rigid, repeatable clamping for grooving and parting applications. The toolholder features a 0.75 inch square shank, an overall length of 4.5 inches, and a maximum depth of cut of 1 inch. Groove width is fixed at 0.157 inches. Machining professionals and CNC setup technicians working in production turning environments are the primary users of this toolholder.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and cutoff operations in both light and medium-duty turning applications. The left-hand orientation makes it appropriate for specific machine configurations where tool clearance or spindle direction requires a left-hand approach. It is compatible with a wide range of DG-series inserts, making it adaptable across various workpiece materials and cutting conditions. The Do-Grip series is a well-established ISCAR toolholder platform used in general-purpose CNC turning setups in job shops and production facilities.
Compatible inserts include DGL 4003C-4D, DGL 4003J-4D, DGLC 4003C-4D, DGN 4003C, DGN 4003J, DGN 4003JT, DGN 4003UA, DGN 4003UT, DGNC 4003C, DGR 4000JS-15D, DGR 4003C-4D, DGR 4003J-4D, and DGRC 4003C-4D. The toolholder is compatible with the full DG insert family (DG.. designation), including DGN-LF/LFT, DGN-MF, DGN-P, DGN-UT/UA, DGN-WP, DGN-Z, DGN/DGNC/DGNM-C, DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT, DGR-P, DGR-WP, DGR-Z/ZS, DGR/L-C, DGRC/LC-C, and DGR/L-J/JS insert size codes.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or changing inserts and before installing the toolholder in the turret. Torque the turret station fasteners according to the machine tool manufacturer specifications, not the insert manufacturer specifications. Verify shank seating depth and tool center height before running the first part.
