The ISCAR 2301294 is a left-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder in the Do-Grip series, designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It accepts DG-series inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method, providing rigid insert retention during interrupted cuts and high-feed grooving passes. The toolholder accommodates groove widths from 0.118 to 0.125 inches with a maximum depth of cut of 0.69 inches. The shank measures 0.5 inches square and 3.4 inches in length, giving a compact profile suited to close-tolerance work. Overall tool length is 4.5 inches. Coolant-through capability is not included. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians install this holder as a precision insert-based solution for parting and grooving applications.
This toolholder is intended for external grooving and cutoff operations in production and job-shop turning environments. It is a left-hand orientation holder, making it suitable for machines running with conventional left-hand tool positioning or back-turret configurations. The Do-Grip series is a common platform in high-volume turning cells where repeatable insert indexing and consistent groove geometry are required. Compatible inserts span a broad range of DG-series geometries, supporting applications from finish grooving to parting on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
Compatible inserts include DGL 3100JS-15D, DGL 3100JS-6D, DGL 3102C-15D, DGL 3102C-6D, DGL 3102J-15D, DGLC 3102C-6D, DGN 3100JS, DGN 3102C, DGN 3102J, DGN 3102JT, DGN 3102LF, DGN 3102LFT, DGN 3202J, DGNC 3102C, DGNM 3202C, DGNM 3202J, DGR 3100JS-15D, DGR 3100JS-6D, DGR 3102C-15D, and additional DGR, DGL, and DGRC geometries in the DG insert family. Insert compatibility codes include DGN-LF/LFT, DGN-MF, DGN-P, DGN-UT/UA, DGN-WP, DGN-Z, DGN/DGNC/DGNM-C, DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT, DGR-P, DGR-WP, DGR-Z/ZS, DGR/L-C, DGRC/LC-C, and DGR/L-J/JS.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. The machine must be fully powered down and all axes at rest before changing or indexing inserts. Confirm shank clamping torque meets the machine tool manufacturer's specification for the turret or tool block in use. Verify insert seating and clamp engagement before resuming cuts, and inspect the holder pocket for chips or debris that could affect insert registration.
