The ISCAR 2301286 is an indexable grooving and cut-off toolholder in the Do Grip series, designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The holder accepts DG-series inserts secured by a clamp-style insert holding method, providing rigid support during interrupted cuts. It is configured for right-hand cutting with a groove width range of 0.118 to 0.125 inches. The shank measures 0.75 inches square in cross-section with a shank length of 3.36 inches and an overall length of 4.5 inches. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC setup personnel use this holder in production turning applications where consistent groove geometry and insert repeatability are required.
This toolholder is suited for external grooving and cut-off work on turned components in both production and job-shop environments. It is designed for use in standard square-shank tool blocks and turrets accepting 0.75-inch toolholders. Typical applications include grooving for snap rings, O-rings, and undercuts, as well as full parting operations on bar stock and chucked workpieces. The Do Grip clamping geometry is optimized for use with the compatible DG insert families listed below.
Compatible insert size codes include DGN-LF/LFT, DGN-MF, DGN-P, DGN-UT/UA, DGN-WP, DGN-Z, DGN/DGNC/DGNM-C, DGN/DGNM-J/JS/JT, DGR-P, DGR-WP, DGR-Z/ZS, DGR/L-C, DGRC/LC-C, and DGR/L-J/JS. General insert compatibility covers DG. 1.. and DG. 3.. insert families within the Do Grip series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolsetting technician with the machine in a safe, locked-out state before any tooling changes. The shank must be seated fully and clamped evenly in the tool block to the torque specification provided by the machine tool manufacturer. Verify insert seating and clamp engagement before resuming spindle operation. Do not exceed the insert manufacturer's recommended cutting parameters for the selected DG insert grade and geometry.
