The ISCAR 2300815 is a left-hand indexable cutoff toolholder designed for grooving, parting, and turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built on the Self Grip series platform, it accepts a range of GFN and GFR/L insert styles secured without fasteners through a self-gripping clamping method. The toolholder handles workpieces up to 2.5 inches in diameter and accommodates inserts with widths from 0.139 inches up to 0.178 inches. The shank measures 1 inch in height by 1 inch in width, and the overall length is 5.9 inches. It is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians on production and job-shop turning equipment.
This toolholder is suited for light to medium parting and grooving work in residential machine shops, production facilities, and contract machining operations. The left-hand orientation positions the cutting edge for specific spindle-direction and approach configurations common in OD grooving and cutoff applications. Compatible insert families cover a wide range of groove profiles, making this holder adaptable across multiple part geometries without changing the body. The self-grip clamping system allows quick insert indexing without additional clamping hardware.
Compatible with GFN-A, GFN-C, GFN-J, GFN-M, GFN-U, GFN-W, GFR/L-C, GFR/L-J, GFR/L-W, and GFR-U indexable inserts. ISCAR catalog reference SGTFL 25.4-4. Designed for use in standard 1 inch by 1 inch square shank toolpost or turret positions on conventional and CNC turning centers.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Seat the shank fully in the turret or toolpost block and torque all clamping fasteners to the machine manufacturer's specification. Verify tool centerline height before making the first cut, as incorrect height directly affects parting performance and insert life.
