Built to the I-100 standard, this bit features a 7/16-inch diameter, a 4-1/2-inch twist length, and a 7-1/2-inch overall length. The solid center construction provides extra rigidity during boring, reducing deflection under load. Full-length heat treatment strengthens the twist along the entire shank, guarding against bending in heavy-duty applications where strain is highest. Carpenters, electricians running wire, and plumbers drilling through framing rely on this style of bit for consistent, repeatable results in structural and rough-in work.
The 49907 is suited for both hard and soft wood boring applications. The coarse screw point pulls the bit into the material quickly, making it effective in framing lumber, dimensional stock, and engineered wood products. Wide lands keep the bit tracking straight as it progresses through the hole, while the flutes are ground behind the lands to channel chips toward the inside of the bit and away from the outer diameter. This chip-clearance geometry reduces friction and produces a faster, cleaner cut. The single-spur cutting edge scribes the circumference of the hole before removal of material, resulting in a smoother finished bore wall. The bit ships pouched and is sold in a package quantity of 6.
