The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 6115367 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG series, designed for precision metal-turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries an AlTiN and TiN PVD coating applied over a TT9080 carbide grade, delivering thermal resistance and edge durability in demanding cutting conditions. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake geometry. With a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 0.0156 inch corner radius, it is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments install this insert using a clamp-style holder.
This insert is engineered primarily for turning stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels, and super-alloys including titanium. The EM chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation in these materials, reducing built-up edge and improving surface finish consistency. It is appropriate for both job-shop and production environments where tool life and process reliability in difficult-to-machine materials are critical. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.2000 inches, making it effective across a range of roughing-to-finishing transitions. This insert ships individually and carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in clamp-style CNMG-series turning toolholders. Compatible with turning centers and CNC lathes accepting CNMG431 inserts per ISO and ANSI toolholder standards. Verify holder pocket tolerance code M and clearance code N compatibility before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine fully stopped and in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp screw to secure the insert without over-tightening, which can crack the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
