The INGERSOLL CUTTING TOOLS 5873174 is a solid carbide milling insert in the AOMT series, designed for positive-rake face milling and shoulder milling operations. It carries a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, two cutting edges, and a sharp cutting edge style for clean entry into the workpiece. The insert is finished with a TiCN coating applied via PVD process, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting zone. Right-hand orientation and a screw-type holding method ensure secure, repeatable seating in the cutter body. Licensed machinists and CNC mill operators handling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for production milling environments where precise, consistent stock removal in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium is required. The coarse-grain solid carbide substrate supports interrupted cuts and harder-to-machine alloys without edge chipping. It is compatible with cutter series 12J1G, 12L1G, 22J3G, 22J5G, 2J1G, and 2L1G, covering a range of indexable face and shoulder mill bodies commonly used in job-shop and production machining. The ANSI and ISO code for this insert is AOMT170548R IN1030, manufacturer grade IN1030.
Compatible with INGERSOLL cutter series 12J1G, 12L1G, 22J3G, 22J5G, 2J1G, and 2L1G. ANSI and ISO code AOMT170548R IN1030. Designed for right-hand cutter bodies accepting AOMT-style inserts with a screw-clamp holding method.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not use impact tools on insert screws. Inspect the cutter pocket seating surface and remove any chips or debris before installing the new insert to ensure proper support and prevent premature edge failure.
