The IMPORT BDNA-20946 is a reduced shank twist drill bit machined from high speed steel and built for general-purpose metal drilling in trade and industrial settings. The 15/32-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 3/8-inch Weldon shank, allowing the bit to fit standard 3/8-inch chucks despite its larger cutting head. The 135-degree split point reduces walking at startup and requires less feed pressure compared to a conventional 118-degree point. Overall length is 4-3/4 inches with a 3-1/8-inch flute length. The coated finish extends cutting life by reducing friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge. This bit is intended for right-hand rotation and is suited for machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working with ferrous metals.
The BDNA-20946 is designed for drilling carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, high tensile strength alloy, stainless steel, and tough alloy materials. The reduced shank design makes it practical when a larger diameter hole is needed but only a 3/8-inch chuck is available. The Weldon shank with three flats resists slipping under torque, which is important when drilling tough alloys that require consistent feed pressure. This bit fits standard drill presses, magnetic drills, and hand drills equipped with a 3/8-inch chuck. It is a general-purpose T8M series bit appropriate for production drilling and maintenance work across fabrication, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical rough-in applications.
Designed as a general-purpose reduced shank drill bit compatible with 3/8-inch Weldon-style chucks on drill presses, magnetic drill units, and hand-held electric drills. Suitable for cutting carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, high tensile strength alloy, stainless steel, and tough alloy workpiece materials.
Secure the Weldon shank fully into the chuck and tighten the set screw against one of the three flats before drilling. Clamp or secure the workpiece to prevent movement during operation. Apply cutting fluid or coolant when drilling stainless steel or hard alloys to manage heat buildup, even though this bit is rated for dry cutting. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if the point is damaged to prevent workpiece damage or bit breakage.
