The IMPORT 20997 is a bridge-construction reamer designed to enlarge and finish pre-drilled holes to precise tolerances in structural steel and heavy fabrication applications. Built from high speed steel (HSS), this reamer features a spiral flute design with 5 flutes and measures 1 inch in diameter with a 1/2 inch Morse taper shank. The 6.5 inch overall length provides the reach needed for bridge plate and structural connection work. HSS construction delivers the hardness and wear resistance required for repeated use in ferrous metals. This tool is installed by ironworkers, structural fabricators, and maintenance machinists working on bolted steel connections.
This reamer is suited for structural steel fabrication, bridge construction, and heavy equipment maintenance where bolt holes must be aligned and finish-reamed to accept high-strength fasteners. The Morse taper shank allows direct mounting in drill presses, magnetic drills, and milling machines equipped with compatible taper-socket tooling. It is appropriate for both shop and field use on carbon steel and similar ferrous materials.
Designed for use in drill presses, magnetic base drills, and milling machines fitted with a Morse taper tool holder. Suitable as an OEM-style replacement or standard bridge reamer for structural steel and heavy fabrication setups.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or ironworker familiar with reamer tooling and machine operation. Power down and fully de-energize the host machine before mounting or removing the reamer from the spindle. Secure the Morse taper shank firmly in the socket and verify there is no runout before commencing the cut. Use appropriate cutting fluid for ferrous metals and never exceed the recommended feed and speed parameters for HSS tooling in the material being reamed.
