The IMPORT 20926 is a mechanics-length drill bit designed for general-purpose drilling in ferrous metals and hard materials. It features a 135-degree split point that starts on contact without walking, reducing the need for a center punch. The bit is machined from high-speed steel (HSS) with an oxide finish for added surface hardness and corrosion resistance. At 15/32 inch (0.4688 inch decimal), it covers a common hole size used in structural, mechanical, and fabrication work. The Weldon flat shank with three flats provides a positive grip in chuck holders and reduces slippage under torque. Right-hand spiral flutes clear chips efficiently during the cut.
This bit is suited for use on carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, high tensile strength alloy, and stainless steel workpieces. It is a standard selection for machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, ironworkers, and general maintenance technicians working in shop or field environments. The mechanics-length body keeps the bit compact and rigid for work in tighter setups where a jobber-length bit would flex or chatter. It is sold individually and is intended for use in a drill press, milling machine, or hand drill with a compatible Weldon-style chuck or set-screw holder.
Designed for use in drill presses, knee mills, and hand drills equipped with a Weldon-style set-screw chuck or holder accepting a 15/32 inch shank. Suitable for drilling carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, high tensile strength alloy, and stainless steel workpieces in general-purpose machining and fabrication applications.
Install the bit into a compatible Weldon-style chuck or holder and tighten the set screws against the flats before use. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling to prevent movement. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling stainless steel or high alloy materials to manage heat and extend bit life. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and replace the bit if the point is chipped or the flutes are damaged.
