The IMPORT 20820 is a mechanics-length, high-speed steel (HSS) drill bit designed for general-purpose metal drilling in trade and production environments. It measures 0.161 inches in diameter with a 3.25-inch overall length and a 2-inch spiral flute. The 135-degree split point geometry reduces walking on entry and lowers thrust force compared to a standard 118-degree point. The oxide finish provides a degree of lubricity and surface protection during cutting. It is suited for use by machinists, maintenance mechanics, pipefitters, and general trade technicians who require a reliable everyday drill bit for metal stock work.
This bit is designed for drilling carbon steel, cast iron, high alloy steel, high tensile strength alloys, and stainless steel. The mechanics length — shorter overall than a jobber bit — provides added rigidity and control in confined spaces or when working in a drill press or hand drill at the bench. The straight-cylindrical shank seats securely in standard three-jaw chucks without requiring a special collet. Right-hand cut is the standard configuration compatible with conventional drilling equipment.
