The HOLO-KROME 76151 is a metric hex socket cap screw designed for high-strength fastening applications where precise torque and compact head clearance are required. This fastener features an M5 x 0.80 thread and a 65 mm length under the head with partial threading, making it well-suited for applications that require thread engagement in a blind or tapped hole. Manufactured from alloy steel at material grade 12.9 — the highest standard fastener strength class — and finished with a black oxide coating for moderate corrosion resistance, this screw is built for demanding mechanical assemblies. It is driven with a hex socket (Allen) key and conforms to ANSI B1.13M, DIN 912, ISO 4762, and ISO 898-1 standards.
This screw is used across a wide range of industrial and mechanical applications including machinery assembly, tooling fixtures, hydraulic component mounting, and structural sub-assembly work. The partially threaded shank allows for clamping force across unthreaded sections, which is preferred in many precision-fit assemblies. Trades and industries that typically install this fastener include mechanical technicians, machine builders, millwrights, and OEM assembly lines working with metric fastener specifications. The black oxide finish offers light oil-retention capability, which can aid in installation torque consistency.
Designed as a standard metric hex socket cap screw conforming to DIN 912 and ISO 4762, suitable for use in any tapped M5 x 0.80 metric threaded hole requiring a grade 12.9 alloy steel fastener.
Installation should be performed by qualified mechanical technicians using a properly sized hex socket key or hex bit driver rated for grade 12.9 fasteners. Always verify that the mating threaded hole meets the specified M5 x 0.80 thread form and has adequate thread engagement depth before final torquing. Do not use a damaged or undersized hex key, as this can round the socket drive and compromise the fastener. Follow applicable equipment manufacturer torque specifications for grade 12.9 M5 fasteners when tightening.
