The HERTEL SZ2038TB is a ball-shaped abrasive bur designed for material removal, blending, and contouring in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built to industry specification SD-1L6, it features a 0.25 inch cutting diameter and a 0.25 inch shank diameter, with a 6 inch overall length for extended reach into deep cavities or recessed workpieces. The head is solid carbide, left uncoated, and ground to a double-cut tooth pattern that delivers faster stock removal with a smoother finish than single-cut alternatives. Machinists, tool-and-die workers, and metal fabricators use this bur with die grinders and rotary tools for precision grinding and deburring tasks.
This bur is suited for use on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steel, aluminum, and similar materials in both shop and field environments. The ball profile makes it effective for concave surface blending, port matching, weld cleanup, and internal radius work. The 6 inch overall length improves access in confined or deep-reach applications where a standard-length bur cannot reach. It is sold individually and intended for professional trade use in fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and tooling operations.
Designed as an OEM-specification replacement and standard-use bur conforming to industry specification SD-1L6, compatible with die grinders and rotary tools accepting a 0.25 inch shank collet.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or fabricators familiar with rotary cutting tools. Ensure the die grinder or rotary tool is fully powered off and depressurized before inserting or removing the bur from the collet. Secure the shank fully within the collet to the manufacturer-specified depth before operation, and verify that the tool RPM rating meets or exceeds the bur RPM requirement. Appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection and gloves should be worn during use.
