The HERTEL SZ0025CE is a solid carbide abrasive bur with a cylinder-with-end-cut head profile, conforming to SB-5 industry specification. It features a double cut tooth style that shears material efficiently in both forward and lateral directions, making it effective for deburring, port matching, surface blending, and stock removal in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The cutting head measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut. The shank diameter is 0.25 inches, fitting standard die grinders and rotary tool collets. At 0.1232 pounds, the bur is lightweight and suited for extended use in precision hand-held operations. Machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and fabricators are the typical end users.
This bur is designed for material removal and finishing work in industrial and fabrication environments. The cylinder-with-end-cut geometry allows access to flat bottomed cavities, grooves, and blind pockets where a standard cylinder profile cannot reach the floor of the feature. It is appropriate for use on cast iron, steel, aluminum, copper, and similar materials. The uncoated solid carbide construction maintains cutting edge integrity at higher rotational speeds compared to high-speed steel alternatives.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use abrasive bur for die grinders and rotary tools accepting a 0.25 inch collet, conforming to SB-5 industry specification for cylinder-with-end-cut carbide burs.
Installation of rotary burs should be performed by a qualified machinist or fabricator following the tool manufacturer's RPM guidelines for the specific bur diameter. Ensure the rotary tool or die grinder is fully powered down and unplugged before inserting or removing the bur from the collet. Secure the shank to the recommended collet depth as specified by the grinder manufacturer. Always wear appropriate eye and face protection when operating rotary carbide burs.
