The HERTEL SZ0022B is a solid carbide abrasive bur with a ball head shape, designed for grinding, deburring, and material removal on hard metals and alloys. It features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter and a 1/4-inch shank diameter, making it compatible with standard die grinders and rotary tools. The single-cut tooth style produces a smooth finish with efficient chip clearance, reducing heat buildup during extended use. This bur is uncoated, with the solid carbide construction providing the hardness needed for demanding stock removal on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is suited for machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians working on precision deburring and contouring tasks.
The SZ0022B is used in metalworking applications where precise material removal or surface finishing is required. Its ball profile makes it well suited for contouring, blending radii, and working inside curved or recessed surfaces. It fits standard 1/4-inch collet die grinders found in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments. The SD-6 industry specification indicates a standardized geometry recognized across the trade, allowing direct substitution wherever an SD-6 ball bur is specified. This part is sold individually.
Designed as a direct-replacement SD-6 ball bur for use with 1/4-inch collet die grinders and rotary tools in standard metalworking and maintenance applications.
Installation is performed by machinists or maintenance technicians using standard die grinder equipment. Ensure the grinder is fully powered off and unplugged before inserting or removing the bur from the collet. Secure the shank fully into the collet to the recommended depth before operation, and inspect the bur for cracks or chips prior to each use. Follow applicable shop safety standards and always use appropriate eye protection when operating rotary cutting tools.
