The HERTEL SZ0013T is a solid carbide abrasive bur with a taper and radius end head shape, designed for material removal, deburring, and shaping in metalworking and fabrication applications. Built to industry specification SL-2, this bur features a double cut tooth style that delivers efficient chip removal and a smooth surface finish. The 5/16 inch cutting diameter and 7/8 inch length of cut make it well suited for detail work in confined areas. The uncoated solid carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists, toolmakers, die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers and users of this type of rotary bur.
This bur fits standard 1/4 inch shank die grinders and rotary tools commonly used in metalworking, welding shops, and MRO environments. The taper with radius end geometry is appropriate for blending, contouring, and port work where a pointed or ball end would not reach the required profile. The 14 degree included angle of the taper head provides controlled access to angled surfaces and chamfer work. It is used on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, hardened steels, cast iron, and similar hard materials in both production and repair settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement bur conforming to industry specification SL-2, compatible with standard 1/4 inch shank die grinders and rotary tool holders used in metalworking and fabrication applications.
Installation is performed by machinists, toolmakers, or maintenance technicians using a standard die grinder with a 1/4 inch collet. Ensure the die grinder is fully powered down and the collet is properly tightened before operation. Always wear appropriate eye protection and follow shop safety protocols when operating rotary burs. Do not exceed the rated RPM of the tool or the bur, and inspect the bur for chips or cracks before each use.
