The HERTEL SZ0009O is a solid carbide abrasive bur with an oval head profile, designed for material removal, deburring, and contouring work in metal fabrication, tool and die, and maintenance applications. The bur features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter with a 7/8 inch length of cut and a 1/4 inch shank diameter for use with standard die grinders and rotary tools. The single-cut tooth style produces smooth surface finishes with efficient chip clearance, making it well suited for work on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The uncoated solid carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance for consistent performance in demanding shop environments. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this bur type.
The SZ0009O conforms to the SE-5 industry specification, which defines the oval head geometry and dimensional standards for this bur class. The 1/4 inch shank fits the collets found on most standard die grinders, pencil grinders, and flexible shaft machines commonly used in fabrication shops, tool rooms, and MRO settings. This bur is appropriate for hand-held rotary tool operations on parts requiring internal contouring, port matching, weld blending, and general deburring tasks where a smooth single-cut finish is preferred over aggressive stock removal.
Designed for use with die grinders and rotary tools accepting a 1/4 inch shank collet. Conforms to SE-5 industry specification for oval-profile carbide burs.
Installation is performed by a machinist or skilled tradesperson using a compatible die grinder or rotary tool with a 1/4 inch collet. Secure the shank fully into the collet and tighten per the tool manufacturer's torque guidance before operation. Always wear appropriate eye protection and secure the workpiece before running the bur. Inspect the bur for chips or cracks before each use and do not operate at speeds exceeding the tool or bur manufacturer's rated RPM.
