The HERTEL SDD43274661 is a high-speed steel step drill bit designed for drilling multiple hole diameters in a single tool. It features a titanium nitride (TiN) coating that extends cutting life and reduces friction during use. The bit covers 9 hole sizes ranging from 13/32 inch minimum to 1 inch maximum diameter, with a 1/8 inch step length between each size. A 3/8 inch round shank with three flats prevents bit slippage in the chuck. This tool is used by electricians, HVAC technicians, plumbers, and other trade professionals who need to cut clean, stepped holes in sheet metal, electrical enclosures, and thin-gauge panels.
This step bit is suited for trade applications involving sheet metal fabrication, electrical panel knockout work, HVAC equipment installation, and conduit entry points. The 9-step design eliminates the need to swap bits when drilling multiple hole sizes in a single work session. The TiN coating helps maintain edge sharpness across repeated use in ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as plastics and thin wood materials.
Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch or larger drill chucks compatible with round-shank bits with flats. Suitable for drilling sheet metal, electrical enclosures, plastic panels, and thin-gauge materials in trade installation work.
This bit is installed by electricians, HVAC technicians, and plumbers for field drilling of enclosures and panels. Always center-punch the work surface before drilling to prevent bit walking. Use appropriate speed settings for the material being drilled — lower RPM for thicker or harder metals. Wear eye protection and secure the workpiece before applying cutting pressure.
