The HERTEL MR46-1169.625 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in machine shop and manufacturing environments. With a 2.97 mm reaming diameter and a diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to +0.0003 mm, this tool delivers tight, repeatable bore geometry where dimensional accuracy is critical. The 4-flute spiral design with left-hand spiral direction and right-hand cutting action helps evacuate chips efficiently while reducing chatter during the reaming pass. Machinists and tool-room operators use this reamer in CNC machining centers, lathes, and drilling machines where collet or chuck mounting on a straight shank is standard practice.
This reamer is suited for finishing operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a bright, uncoated solid carbide tool is appropriate. The 16 mm flute length provides adequate cutting engagement for shallow-to-moderate depth through-holes and blind holes within that depth range. The 75 mm overall length fits standard toolholding setups without requiring extended-reach adapters in most bench and CNC lathe applications. It is sold and used individually, making it a practical replacement or addition to an existing reamer set.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank toolholding systems on CNC machining centers, manual lathes, and drill presses requiring a 2.97 mm finishing reamer.
Installation and use of this reamer should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with reaming speeds, feeds, and cutting fluid requirements for solid carbide tooling. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and true before seating the straight shank to avoid runout that can damage the reamer or produce out-of-tolerance bores. Always reduce spindle speed relative to drilling operations when reaming, and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material. Inspect the reamer for chipping or wear before each use and do not force the tool through an undersized or misaligned hole.
