The HERTEL MR34-0319.281 is a solid carbide chucking reamer ground to a No. 67 wire gauge diameter of 0.0320 inches (0.813 mm). It is designed for precision hole finishing in machined components where tight bore tolerances are required. The four-flute, left-hand spiral geometry promotes smooth chip evacuation while the right-hand cutting direction delivers consistent surface finishes. With an overall length of 1.9685 inches (50.00 mm) and a flute length of 7.00 mm, this tool is suited for short, accurate reaming passes in CNC machining centers or drill presses. Machinists and toolroom technicians working on close-tolerance bores in ferrous and non-ferrous materials will find this reamer appropriate for production and prototype work alike.
This reamer is used in applications requiring precise hole sizing at the small-bore end of the diameter spectrum, specifically in the 0 to 0.0499 inch range. The straight-cylindrical shank allows direct mounting in standard collet chucks, drill chucks, or floating reamer holders commonly found in vertical machining centers and CNC lathes. It is well suited for finishing operations in medical device components, instrument parts, die and mold work, and other precision manufacturing environments where hole diameter tolerance is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank collet chucks, drill chucks, and floating reamer holders compatible with No. 67 wire gauge diameter tooling.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with precision reaming procedures. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the straight-cylindrical shank to maintain concentricity. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to extend tool life and achieve the target surface finish. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are set per the toolmaker's recommendations before engaging the cut, as solid carbide tooling is sensitive to improper feeds and speeds.
