The HERTEL MR34-0283.281 is a solid carbide chucking reamer designed for precision hole finishing in tight-tolerance machining applications. With a 0.72 mm reamer diameter and a diameter tolerance of 0.0000 to +0.0003 mm, this tool delivers consistent, accurate bore sizing in a single pass. The spiral flute geometry — with a left-hand spiral direction and right-hand cutting direction — promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces chatter at small diameters. Overall length is 50 mm with a 7 mm flute length, making it suited for shallow, precision bores in hard or abrasive workpiece materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers of this type of tooling.
This chucking reamer is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills where a straight shank is accepted by the chuck or collet. Its bright (polished) finish reduces friction and aids chip flow at sub-millimeter diameters. The solid carbide construction handles hardened steels, cast iron, aluminum alloys, and other materials that demand rigidity at small tool diameters. It is sold individually and is appropriate for production and prototype work requiring repeatable, fine-tolerance bore finishing.
Designed as an OEM-style chucking reamer for use in standard straight-shank chuck or collet systems on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual milling machines that accept tooling at this sub-millimeter diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with precision reaming procedures. Ensure the machine spindle and workpiece are secured and the machine is at a full stop before mounting or removing the tool. Use the recommended cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material to protect the carbide edge and maintain tolerance. Do not use this reamer to remove excessive stock — pre-drill or bore to within a few microns of final size before reaming.
