The HERTEL E1030906 is a single-end, square-profile end mill designed for general-purpose milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloy steels, and similar materials. It is manufactured from M7 high speed steel and left uncoated, making it a cost-effective choice for shops running conventional milling setups without high-heat toolpaths. The cutter measures 0.875 inches in diameter with a 1.5-inch length of cut and a 0.625-inch shank diameter, giving it a compact, rigid geometry suited for face milling, slotting, and peripheral milling at moderate feeds and speeds. Two right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote smooth chip evacuation and reduced chatter across a range of workpiece materials.
This end mill is intended for use in vertical machining centers, knee mills, and manual or CNC milling machines equipped with appropriate collet or end mill holders sized for a 5/8-inch shank. Its centercutting geometry allows it to plunge directly into material, which is useful in applications requiring slot entry without a pre-drilled start hole. The regular-length body and 3.625-inch overall length make it a practical fit for standard reach applications in job shop, toolroom, and production environments where HSS tooling is preferred over carbide for interrupted cuts or lower-speed operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use cutting tool for milling machines and machining centers accepting a 5/8-inch straight shank end mill holder or collet.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Verify that the collet or end mill holder is clean, undamaged, and correctly sized for the 5/8-inch shank before torquing. Inspect cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, and never exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for M7 HSS tooling at the selected spindle speed.
