The HERTEL 72846470 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance under high chip-load conditions. The cutter measures 0.75 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and a 3.75-inch overall length. Its fine-pitch, 4-flute geometry produces a controlled chip pattern that reduces vibration and improves surface finish on roughing passes. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on manual mills, CNC machining centers, or knee mills.
This roughing end mill is suited for ferrous and high-alloy materials in both job-shop and production environments. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle configurations. The centercutting design allows for plunge entry as well as peripheral milling. It is appropriate for use in applications requiring high metal removal rates on steel, stainless, and similar alloys where a standard HSS end mill would wear prematurely.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for 3/4-inch roughing end mills with a 0.75-inch straight shank, compatible with standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and Weldon-style tool holders accepting a 3/4-inch shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tool-holding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank to the recommended depth in the holder and torque set screws according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for wear or chipping before each use, and replace the tool when edge degradation affects cut quality or dimensional accuracy.
