The HERTEL 16ERG60HG225TR is a laydown threading insert designed for external thread cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning equipment. Manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, this insert delivers heat resistance and edge wear performance across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless, and cast iron. The 60-degree partial profile geometry covers a thread pitch range of 14 to 8 TPI (1.75 to 3.00 mm pitch), making it a versatile choice for general-purpose external threading work. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inch (0.3750 inches) with a thickness of 0.1460 inches. Insert style is 16ER, right-hand cut orientation.
This insert is suited for right-hand external threading operations in production and job-shop environments. The 60-degree included angle accommodates standard unified and metric thread forms within the stated pitch range. Typical applications include threading on medium to small diameter shafts, fastener components, and hydraulic fittings where consistent thread form and surface finish are required. Machinists and CNC turning operators install this insert into compatible 16ER-style toolholders. Minimum order quantity is 10 pieces; package quantity is 1.
Designed for use in 16ER-style laydown threading toolholders that accept a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.1460-inch thickness. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and clamping style before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully powered down and in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw for the toolholder to avoid seat damage or insert fracture. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating the insert. Do not exceed the thread pitch range or depth-of-cut limits specified by the toolholder manufacturer for this insert style.
