The HERTEL 16691792 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding applications. Measuring 17/64 inch (0.2656 inch decimal) in diameter with a 3-1/2 inch overall length and a 2-1/8 inch flute length, this bit is built for accuracy and durability. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating reduces friction and extends tool life. The 118-degree standard point angle and web-thinned, tapered web configuration improve penetration and reduce the thrust required at entry. It is suited for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and trade professionals working with ferrous and non-ferrous materials in production or job-site environments.
This drill bit is appropriate for applications requiring tight tolerances and consistent hole quality. The right-hand spiral flute with regular spiral type clears chips efficiently during through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations. The straight-cylindrical shank, sized to match the 17/64 inch drill diameter, seats securely in standard keyless or keyed drill chucks. The C2 material grade carbide substrate provides wear resistance for use in harder workpiece materials where high-speed steel bits would wear prematurely. Packaged as a single unit, it fits into general maintenance, HVAC equipment fabrication, and mechanical installation workflows.
Designed as a replacement or production-use jobber-length drill bit in the HERTEL Series 450 line, compatible with standard drill chucks accepting a straight-cylindrical shank in the 0.2500 to 0.3000 inch diameter range.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or trade professionals familiar with rotary cutting tools and applicable shop safety standards. Secure the shank fully in the chuck before operation and verify chuck key removal before starting the spindle. Do not exceed the recommended spindle speed for the workpiece material and bit diameter. Inspect the cutting edges and TiN coating for wear or chipping before each use and replace the bit if damage is observed.
