The HERTEL 1002835 is a right-hand MDJN-style negative rake indexable turning toolholder designed for precision external turning operations on metalworking lathes and turning centers. The toolholder features a 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch square shank with an overall length of 4 inches, providing a rigid, consistent platform for high-material-removal roughing and finishing passes. It accepts DN..432 series inserts, which are double-sided negative rake inserts commonly used in carbon steel, alloy steel, and cast iron applications. This toolholder is part of the Multi-Option series and is intended for use by machinists and CNC lathe operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 1002835 is suited for right-hand external turning applications on conventional engine lathes and CNC turning centers. The MDJN holder style positions the insert at a specific lead angle that promotes stable cutting and chip evacuation during longitudinal turning and facing. It is a single-use-configuration toolholder, not designed for multi-application adaptability. The 3/4 inch square shank fits standard toolpost and turret positions sized for that shank dimension.
Designed to accept DN..432 series negative rake inserts. Fits standard toolpost and CNC turret positions sized for a 3/4 inch square shank. Specific machine compatibility depends on turret or toolpost bore size and configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before mounting or changing toolholders. Ensure the shank seats fully and squarely in the toolpost or turret pocket and that all clamping bolts are torqued per the machine manufacturer specifications. Insert clamping screws should be tightened with the appropriate Torx or hex key supplied with the insert system. Verify tool height alignment to spindle centerline before beginning a cut.
