The HERTEL 1002295 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the CCMT insert style designation with an 80-degree diamond shape, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0079 inch corner radius. The insert uses a positive rake angle of 6 degrees with a 7-degree relief angle, which reduces cutting forces and heat generation during turning operations. The HC1250T grade with CVD coating makes this insert suitable for machining steel and steel alloys classified under ISO material group P. It is held in place by a screw-clamp toolholder and is intended for installation by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning applications on steel workpieces in production and job-shop environments. The T chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation during medium-depth passes, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0787 inch (2.00 mm). The neutral cutting direction makes it compatible with right-hand and certain neutral-hand toolholders. Its single-tipped construction means each insert provides one cutting edge per corner position before indexing.
Designed for use in screw-clamp CCMT-style toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle insert with a C clearance code and M tolerance code. ISO equivalent designation is CCMT 09T302-M4. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and screw size before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in an e-stop or locked-out state per applicable machine-specific lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket before torquing the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat and screw threads for debris or damage before each indexing operation. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut for this insert geometry.
