The HERTEL 1001414 is a solid carbide turning insert with a TiN (titanium nitride) coating applied via PVD process, designed for precision turning operations on CNC lathes and boring applications. Manufactured to ANSI code CCGT21.51 and ISO code CCGT060204, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake and positive side clearance. The HC210 grade carbide with TiN coating delivers wear resistance suitable for finish and semi-finish turning. A 1/64-inch corner radius and 1/4-inch inscribed circle make it well suited for tight-tolerance internal and external turning work. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for use in the ModBORE series tooling system and is oriented as a neutral-hand insert, offering flexibility in both left-hand and right-hand boring bar and turning tool configurations. Primary workpiece material codes M, N, and S indicate suitability for stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, and heat-resistant superalloys respectively, with secondary compatibility for cast iron (material code K). It is packaged individually and sold in minimum order quantities of 10 units, making it appropriate for shop-floor restocking and production environments.
Designed for use with ModBORE series tooling. Fits tool holders accepting CCGT21.51 (ANSI) or CCGT060204 (ISO) inserts with a 2.80 mm (0.1102-inch) hole diameter and screw-lock holding method.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is placed in an e-stop or locked-out state per shop safety procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the tool holder manufacturer's specified feel — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or contamination before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
