The HERTEL 1001341 is a solid carbide triangular turning insert in the KENDEX series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. It carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, providing wear resistance and thermal protection across a range of cutting conditions. The insert is 11 mm (0.4331 inches) long with a 0.25 inch inscribed circle and a 1/64 inch (0.0160 inch) corner radius. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake geometry suit general-purpose turning operations. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals, this insert fits standard clamp-style toolholders designed for triangular inserts.
The 1001341 is suited for turning operations on ferrous metals classified under P and M workpiece material grades, covering carbon steels, alloy steels, and stainless steels. The 60-degree triangular shape and positive rake geometry reduce cutting forces and improve chip flow on moderate to light cuts. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), making this insert appropriate for finishing and semi-finishing passes. It fits into TPU-style toolholders with clamp-style insert retention, common in production turning and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for TPU221-style clamp toolholders in the KENDEX series. Compatible with material grades C5 and C6 toolholder systems. Specific model compatibility should be verified against the toolholder manufacturer's insert-size specifications using insert shape code T, tolerance code U, and clearance code P.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamp securely without cracking the insert. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and cutting-edge geometry.
