The HERTEL 1001262 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to CCGT2150LF geometry with an HC210 grade designation, this insert features a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) applied TiN coating over a solid carbide substrate. The diamond-shaped insert carries an 80-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry, making it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert measures 6.45 mm (0.2539 inches) in length with a 1/4-inch (0.2500-inch) inscribed circle and a 0.0039-inch corner radius. Installation is via screw-holding method. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is built for turning operations on a range of workpiece materials. Primary workpiece material designations include M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous metals), and S (heat-resistant superalloys). Secondary workpiece material is K (cast iron). The ModBORE series designation indicates suitability for boring bar and internal turning applications in addition to external turning. The T-style chip breaker geometry helps manage chip flow on finishing cuts, reducing the risk of built-up edge and surface finish issues on difficult materials.
Designed for use in CCGT-style screw-clamp toolholders within the HERTEL ModBORE series. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, 3/32-inch thick CCGT insert with a 0.1102-inch (2.80 mm) hole diameter and C clearance, G tolerance designation.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamp force. Inspect the toolholder pocket and screw for debris or wear before seating a new insert.
