The HERTEL 1001245 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured in the TPG222 style with a triangular insert shape and a 60-degree included angle, this insert carries the HT10 grade designation and is supplied uncoated for direct application without additional coating layers. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for both left- and right-hand toolholders. Key dimensional specs include a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and an insert length of 11 mm (0.4331 inches). Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). It is held in place via a clamp-style insert holding method.
This insert is part of the HERTEL KENDEX series and is engineered for turning applications on non-ferrous metals and high-temperature alloys (primary workpiece material codes N and S), with secondary suitability for cast iron and stainless steel (material codes K and M). It fits standard TPG-style toolholders common in production turning environments, including both light finishing and moderate roughing passes where a positive rake geometry and tight tolerance fit are required. The material grade is C2, consistent with general-purpose and light-to-medium machining tasks. Installed individually, this insert is available in multiples of ten per order.

This insert is installed by a machinist or toolroom technician into a compatible clamp-style TPG toolholder. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
