The HERTEL 1001193 is a CCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Coated with titanium nitride (TiN) via a PVD process, the HC210 grade insert provides wear resistance suitable for a range of workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a positive rake geometry. The corner radius measures 0.0079 inches, and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.375 inches. Overall insert length is 9.67 mm (0.3807 inches), and insert thickness is 0.1563 inches. Screw-style holding secures the insert in compatible toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning operations in both production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece material classifications are M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous metals), and S (heat-resistant superalloys), with secondary suitability for K (cast iron) materials. Material grades C2 and C4 apply. The ModBORE series designation indicates compatibility with boring and turning toolholders within that product family. The T chip breaker geometry assists with chip control during light-to-moderate finishing cuts. This insert is typically installed by machinists or CNC operators on manual or automated turning equipment.
Designed for use with CCMT-style screw-clamp turning toolholders in the ModBORE series. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.1732-inch (4.40 mm) hole diameter. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC service technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque screwdriver or wrench for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate — do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination affects edge geometry and tool life.
