The HERTEL 1001163 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. Manufactured to the SNU634 ISO code, this insert carries an HC335 grade designation and features a multilayer CVD coating process applying TiC, TiCN, and TiN layers in sequence. The square insert shape with a 90-degree included angle and neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for a wide range of turning, facing, and light profiling operations. With a 3/4 inch inscribed circle and a 1/16 inch corner radius, it is built for medium-duty stock removal on ferrous and stainless workpiece materials. Installation and tool changes are handled by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert fits clamp-style toolholders compatible with the KENDEX series and is intended primarily for P-group primary workpiece materials (carbon and alloy steels) and M-group secondary workpiece materials (stainless steels and high-alloy steels). The neutral hand design allows fitment in both right- and left-hand toolholder pockets that accept SNU-style square inserts. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), making this insert well suited for finishing and light roughing passes rather than heavy interrupted cuts. It is sold individually but subject to a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces per order.
Designed for use in clamp-style toolholders that accept SNU-style square turning inserts within the KENDEX series. Compatible with toolholder pockets sized for a 3/4 inch inscribed circle square insert.
Insert changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Seat the insert firmly against all pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure. Verify toolholder pocket condition and clamp integrity at each insert change. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer guidelines for feed rate and speed selection based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
