The HERTEL 1001136 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the TPG431 style designation and is coated with titanium nitride (TiN) via a PVD process, which improves surface hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. The insert has a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. It is manufactured to grade HC210 and held to G tolerance with a P clearance code. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning applications involving stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and cast materials, corresponding to ISO workpiece material groups M, N, S, and K. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with both right-hand and left-hand toolholders designed for TPG-style inserts. It is part of the KENDEX series and is appropriate for finish to semi-finish turning passes where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches).
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for TPG-style toolholders accepting a 431 insert size with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, as specified within the KENDEX series. Compatible with ISO workpiece material groups M, N, S, and K; secondary group K. Material grades C2 and C4.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use a torx or hex key appropriate for the clamp screw on the toolholder — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and G-tolerance alignment.
