The HERTEL 1000694 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPGT style, designed for precision external and internal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to grade HC210 with a PVD-applied TiN coating, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of workpiece materials. It features a 60-degree triangular shape, a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8-inch (0.375 inch) inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch (0.0312 inch) corner radius. The screw-on holding method provides secure clamping in compatible toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production facilities, and toolrooms will find this insert suited to general turning and finishing passes.
This insert is intended for turning applications on stainless steel (M), non-ferrous metals (N), superalloys (S), and cast iron (K) workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material grades C2 and C4. The TPGT style with a positive rake and P clearance code makes it well suited for light to moderate depth-of-cut finishing work. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inch). The chip breaker designation is T, optimized for controlled chip formation in the listed material groups. This insert is sold individually but is subject to a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed as a screw-on replacement insert for TPGT-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with a 0.1732-inch hole diameter. Compatible with toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards for TPGT32.52 insert size. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping screw size before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified clamping screw and appropriate torx or hex key for the toolholder; do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under uneven clamping load. Inspect the toolholder seat and chip pocket for debris or damage before seating the new insert.
