The HERTEL 1000691 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPG433 style, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. This triangle-shaped insert carries the HC335 manufacturer grade and features a three-layer CVD coating — TiC, TiCN, and TiN — applied in sequence to improve wear resistance and extend cutting life. It has a neutral hand orientation, a 3/64-inch (0.0470-inch) corner radius, and a 60-degree included angle. The inscribed circle measures 1/2 inch (0.5000 inch), and insert thickness is 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch). Insert length is 22 mm (0.8661 inch). It is part of the KENDEX series and is installed by machining professionals in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning applications on ferrous metals, including steels and stainless steels, corresponding to ISO material categories P and M. It uses a clamp-style holding method (Clearance Code P, Tolerance Code G) and a positive rake geometry. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inch), making it appropriate for finishing and light-to-medium roughing passes. It fits standard TPG-style toolholders used in general-purpose turning. The chip breaker designation is N (no chip breaker), which is typical for finishing grades where edge sharpness is the priority.
Designed for use in standard TPG-style clamp toolholders accepting a 1/2-inch inscribed circle triangle insert. Compatible with toolholder systems using Clearance Code P and Tolerance Code G seating. Fits KENDEX series tooling setups as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamp screw, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
