The HERTEL 1000688 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPG432 style, designed for precision single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to the KENDEX series standard, this triangular insert features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN over a solid carbide substrate graded HC335. The 60-degree triangle geometry with a positive rake and 11-degree relief angle reduces cutting forces and promotes clean chip evacuation. It measures 0.8661 inches in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle diameter and a 1/32-inch corner radius. This insert is held in place using a clamp-style toolholder and is suited for machinists and tooling technicians working with ferrous and some stainless workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for turning applications on ferrous metals (ISO material group P) and stainless steels (ISO material group M). The HC335 grade with C5 and C6 material classifications makes it appropriate for medium to finish turning passes. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), positioning this insert for light to moderate material removal rather than heavy roughing. It is a neutral-hand insert, meaning it is not handed left or right and can be used in standard clamp-style turning toolholders without orientation restriction. Typical use is in production turning environments where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required.

This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or tooling technicians as part of routine lathe tooling maintenance.
