The HERTEL 1000674 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPG222 style, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a triangular insert shape with a 60-degree included angle and a positive rake geometry. The insert is CVD-coated with a TiC, TiCN, and TiN multilayer coating under the HC335 manufacturer grade, which provides wear resistance and thermal protection during interrupted and continuous cuts. At 11 mm in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 0.03125-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for light to medium material removal at controlled depths. It is installed using a clamp-style holding method and carries a neutral hand designation.
This insert is intended for turning ferrous metals and stainless steels, corresponding to ISO workpiece material classifications P and M. It fits toolholders designed for TPG-style inserts and is part of the KENDEX series. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning of steel components in production shop environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working with steel, alloy steel, and austenitic stainless materials will find the HC335 grade well matched to moderate cutting speeds and feeds. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches).
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for TPG222-style insert seats in clamp-style external turning toolholders. Compatible with toolholder systems accepting TPG inserts with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and 60-degree triangular geometry. Part of the KENDEX series.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamp to avoid seat damage. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
