The HERTEL 1000672 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPG324 style, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Coated with titanium nitride (TiN) via a PVD process, this triangular insert carries the HC210 manufacturer grade and delivers reliable performance in general-purpose and finishing cuts. The insert measures 16.5 mm (0.6496 inches) in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/16-inch (0.0625-inch) corner radius. It features a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake geometry, and an 11-degree relief angle, making it suitable for a range of workpiece materials including stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys.
This insert is part of the HERTEL KENDEX series and is intended for use in light-to-moderate turning applications where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are priorities. It is suited for machining stainless and austenitic steels (M), non-ferrous materials such as aluminum and copper alloys (N), heat-resistant superalloys (S), and cast materials (K) as secondary workpiece material. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), making this insert best suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes rather than heavy roughing. Machinists and CNC setup technicians working in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms are the primary installers of this insert.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for TPG-style toolholders that accept a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with clamp-style holding. Compatible toolholders must conform to TPG324 insert geometry standards. Verify toolholder pocket geometry before installation.
This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or CNC technicians following standard lathe lockout and toolholder procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before accessing the turret or toolholder. Use the appropriate torx or hex wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat and clamp the insert securely. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert, as pocket condition directly affects cutting accuracy and insert life.
