The HERTEL 1000671 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPG323 style, designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured in a triangular shape with a 60-degree included angle, this insert carries a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN under the HC335 manufacturer grade. It measures 16.5 mm (0.6496 inches) in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 3/64-inch (0.047-inch) corner radius. The neutral hand orientation suits a wide range of turning setups. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible clamp-style toolholders for steel and stainless steel machining applications.
This insert is part of the KENDEX series and is intended for turning operations on primary workpiece material category P (steel) and secondary category M (stainless steel). The clamp-style holding method (TPG seat configuration) fits standard negative-rake toolholders accepting TPG323 geometry inserts. The positive rake geometry and chip breaker code N make it well suited to finishing and light roughing passes where controlled chip flow and surface finish are priorities. Typical applications include shaft turning, facing, and contour work in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as a drop-in replacement for TPG323 geometry inserts used in clamp-style external turning toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular seat. Compatible with toolholders rated for HC335-grade TPG inserts in steel and stainless steel turning applications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Seat the insert firmly in the TPG pocket and torque the clamp screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before clamping to avoid rocking, which can cause premature edge failure or dimensional error.
