The HERTEL 1000655 is a solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to WPMT insert style with a trigon (80-degree included angle) shape, this insert carries a TiN coating applied via PVD process, which extends tool life and reduces built-up edge on a range of workpiece materials. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inch, insert length is 0.2567 inch (6.52 mm), and corner radius is 1/32 inch. It is rated under manufacturer grade HC210 and classified under material grades C2 and C4. Installation uses a screw-on holding method, making it compatible with standard WPMT screw-lock toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning applications on stainless steel (M), non-ferrous metals (N), superalloys (S), and cast iron (K) workpieces. The positive rake geometry and chip breaker designation T support controlled chip formation in both roughing and finishing passes. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inch (1.25 mm), making this insert well-matched to medium and finishing-range turning operations in job shop and production machining environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand or facing toolholder setups without directional restriction.
Designed for use with screw-on WPMT-style turning toolholders. Compatible with workpiece material groups M, N, S (primary) and K (secondary) per ISO classification. Fits toolholder pockets sized for a 3/8 inch inscribed circle WPMT insert with a 4.40 mm (0.1732 inch) hole diameter.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC operators following standard insert-change procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to torque the clamping screw — do not over-tighten or use impact tools on the insert screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure full and even seating against the pocket walls.
