The HERTEL 1000613 is a CPMT-style solid carbide turning insert with a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating and an 80-degree diamond shape. Carrying manufacturer grade HC210, this insert is designed for external turning operations where a sharp, wear-resistant edge is required. It features a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, a 3/32-inch insert thickness, and a corner radius of 1/64 inch. The screw-clamping hold method and neutral hand orientation make it a straightforward fit for standard turning toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working with a range of workpiece materials will find this insert suited to precision metal removal tasks.
This insert is applicable to turning operations on ISO material groups M (stainless steel), N (non-ferrous metals), and S (heat-resistant superalloys), with secondary suitability for K (cast iron) materials. Material grades C2 and C4 are referenced for this insert. The T-style chip breaker designation (style code CPMT21.51) supports controlled chip formation during finishing and semi-finishing passes. It is well matched for CNC lathes and turning centers running moderate to high cutting speeds on the listed material groups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement insert for CPMT-style screw-on turning toolholders accepting an 80-degree diamond insert with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle. Compatible with toolholders specifying clearance code P and tolerance code M per ISO insert designation standards.
This insert is installed and serviced by qualified machinists or CNC technicians. Before indexing or replacing an insert, de-energize the machine and ensure the spindle is fully stopped. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified value — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
