The HERTEL 1000611 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPGM2151 style, designed for precision single-point turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Manufactured to grade HC335, this insert features a multilayer CVD coating process applying TiC, TiCN, and TiN coatings for improved wear resistance and thermal stability. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge suitable for a range of general turning profiles. With an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches, a thickness of 0.0938 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0156 inches, this insert is held in place by a screw-type clamping system. It is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is rated for primary workpiece material category P (steel and steel castings) and secondary category M (stainless steel and heat-resistant alloys), making it a general-purpose choice across common ferrous turning applications. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both conventional and climb-cutting setups. The M-style chip breaker geometry assists with chip control during medium turning passes. Typical applications include OD turning, facing, and light profiling operations on ferrous workpieces in both production and maintenance machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for CPGM2151-style screw-on insert toolholders used in standard CNC and manual lathe turning applications. Compatible toolholders must accept an inscribed circle of 0.25 inches, a hole diameter of 0.11 inches, and the CPGM seating geometry.
This insert is installed and replaced by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key for the screw-clamp fastener to secure the insert firmly in the pocket seat without overtightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
