The HERTEL 1000570 is a VBMT221LF-style turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN under the HC335 grade designation. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. It is designed for external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers and is held in place by a screw-on clamping method. The HC335 grade is suited for steel and stainless steel workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO P and M material groups. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert class during routine tooling changeovers.
This insert is intended for precision turning applications in both production and job-shop environments. The VBMT221LF designation places it in screw-on toolholders sized for a 1/4-inch IC insert with a 1/8-inch thickness. Its positive rake geometry and T-style chip breaker make it well suited for finishing and light roughing passes on steel and stainless alloys. The 35-degree diamond profile allows access in tight-clearance profiling situations. Minimum order quantity is 10 pieces; packaging quantity per unit is 1.
Designed for use in screw-on VBMT-style toolholders accepting a 1/4-inch inscribed circle insert with a 1/8-inch thickness and a 0.1102-inch hole diameter. Compatible with ISO P (steel) and M (stainless steel) primary workpiece materials and C5 and C6 material grades.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before removing or seating the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to tighten the clamping screw; do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque for the screw size. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Verify insert orientation and chip breaker direction relative to the programmed tool path before resuming cuts.
